Accell in talks to acquire Raleigh

Accell Group is in discussions to acquire Raleigh, the Netherlands based group announced today.

Raleigh has been ‘for sale’ for some time, said chairman Alan Finden-Crofts (pictured) at the Taipei Cycle Show.

This year Raleigh is celebrating its 125th year in business.

Accell Group has signed heads of agreement with Raleigh Cycle Limited and its shareholders, including Finden-Crofts.

Raleigh operates through production and distribution companies in the UK, US and Canada along with worldwide licensing activities and Derby Trading Company, a sourcing arm in Taiwan.

Raleigh has 430 employees, sales of over £162m pa and sold 850,000 bicycles in 2011.

Accell Group brands include Batavus, Koga, Sparta, Winora, Hercules, Hai Bike, Ghost, Lapierre, Atala, and Redline.
