Profitable German distributor takeover takes Accell Distributor tally to two

Accell Group acquires Bäumker & Co

The Accell Group has aquired German distribution company Bäumker & Co.

The takeover of the profitable business now means Accell has two successful distributor acquisitions sat within its portfolio – the other being American firm Seattle Bike Supply. The purchase was particularly attractive to Accell as Baumker handled Accell owned brand Batavus.

Baumker’s buyout will be financed via Accell’s own resources and it is believed the current manager of the firm is to stay on board. It has yet to be confirmed whether the company’s 35 employees will hold their roles.

“Bäumker is a strong player in the market for bicycles and bicycle parts in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Through acquiring its distributor, Batavus will be able to—besides the existing sales of Bäumker—expand its commercial activities in Germany that are complementary to Accell Group’s existing sales channels. This also offers more opportunities for the sale of E-bikes,” said René Takens, chief executive officer of Accell Group.
