We are now looking for a Bicycle Mechanic to support our retail workshop.

This is a great opportunity to work hands-on with bikes every day – from new builds and safety checks to workshop repairs and dispatch preparation.

Location: JE James Cycles – Chesterfield
Hours: Full and Part-Time Hours Available
Pay: Under 21: £11.00 per hour 21 and Over: £13.17 per hour
Benefits: Company pension (dependent on earnings) | Staff discount

What You’ll Do:

  • Build new bikes to a high standard for display, sale, and dispatch
  • Perform safety checks and final inspections for mail-order bikes
  • Assist with repairs, servicing, and general maintenance in the Rotherham store workshop
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and provide solutions confidently
  • Support warehouse operations by preparing bikes for delivery or collection
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workspace
  • Ensure accurate completion of all job cards and paperwork

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven mechanical skills and experience working on a wide range of bikes
  • Confident with modern componentry, including hydraulic brakes, e-bikes, and drivetrains
  • A methodical and safety-conscious approach to work
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing time effectively
  • Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
  • Previous workshop or cycle industry experience is preferred
  • Willingness to work flexibly across both retail and warehouse environments
