DT Swiss launches 1500 range, which is aimed at riders who want “precision and a hint of madness in their style”

Hot off the release of the 1700 line last week, DT Swiss has launched the new 1500 range, apparently designed not merely to meet expectations, but to “ignite true excitement.” The brand says the 1500 line captures the most current demands from the global MTB community. Upgrading the EXC 1500 CLASSIC to ASTM 5 sharpens and simplifies the DT Swiss wheel category structure in the categories Cross Country (XRC), All Mountain (XMC), Enduro (EXC) and Hybrid (HXC). The new 1500 range will be distributed by Madison.

The rim

Aligning modern mountain bike requirements with the latest technology standards makes one thing clear: asymmetric rims, a 30 mm inner width, and front-/rear-specific layering designs are essential for each wheel of the 1500 series. A “pioneering” rim manufacturing process and full layer-by-layerinspection deliver lightweight rims built for lasting performance, according to the brand. The new wheels go further than their precursor, using continuous carbon layers that reinforce the rim horns for maximum impact resistance.

Degrees of freedom

Simplified adjustability

The new DF technology is an anti-pedal kickback device simplified to the max. Retrofittable to all Ratchet DEG freehub systems and lighter than other solutions, just replace the hubs threaded ring and the two ratchets to enjoy three different degrees of freehub movement: 0º, 10º and 20º.

Spokes

With a shape from a unique blading process, which also densifies the material, it is the most durable DT Swiss spoke in its weight category. With the exception of the HXC 1500 SPLINE, which benefits from eMTB-specific spokes, every wheel in the 1500 series is equipped with DT complite spokes.
