Boost, known best for its road-legal e-bike conversion kits, has announced that it will bring its own mini-bike to market.

This move comes as the brand says that although they love giving bikes a second life by converting them, they think that adapting a sport-focused bike “might not be the best way to actually get around town.” According to Boost, rather than purely adding power to an existing bike, the Boost mini-bike is the “better way.”
Available as a pedal power only bike at £600, or as an e-bike for £1250, the Boost mini-bike is fully convertible between the two modes. The electric version uses Boost’s rear hub motor and bottle-style battery to provide power, the same system used in their e-bike conversion kits. The Boost mini-bike is fully EAPC-compliant, tested to the EN15194 standard.

According to Boost, the 252Wh battery should be good for 20-25 miles in Boost or 30-35 miles in Eco mode. The motor provides 42Nm of torque, 250W continuous power, and can be controlled via their free app, or with an optional wireless display (RRP £59).
Here are more details from the release:
The Boost mini-bike is designed to make riding a bike fun again, whilst being a practical way to get around. We all remember the sense of joy and freedom of messing about on bikes as a kid, and we’ve tapped into that with a “BMX-inspired” design with a range of bright coloured wheels available to choose from. (Boring black is also available!). The practicality is handled with a quick-release stem, which allows the handlebars to turn 90 degrees to store flat against a wall.
The pedals fold too, so it takes up as little as 25cm of storage space. It’ll fit in the narrowest of hallways without constantly being tripped over. We’ve also chosen hydraulic disc brakes and 8-speed Shimano gears for fuss-free stopping and going, and included a kick-stand and mounts for almost anything you can think of. (Mudguards, rear rack, multiple bottle mounts inside the frame, plus “anything cage” mounts on the fork).

Most small-wheeled bikes can feel twitchy and unstable to ride, not exactly confidence-inspiring for the casual rider. We’ve designed the steering geometry so it’s similar to an endurance road bike, which makes riding feel intuitive, without sacrificing the agility you get with 20″ wheels. The bike is a one-size-fits-most design, to suit riders between 150-187cm tall. A long seatpost with a slacker seat tube angle allows a wide range of saddle heights and increases saddle setback the higher the saddle is set. Handlebar reach is easily adjusted by rolling the BMX-style handlebars forward or backwards.
E-bike battery safety is a hot topic at the moment, and we have gone above and beyond to keep our customers safe. We’ve partnered with BatteryIQ to use their smart Battery Management System, which offers industry leading battery monitoring and protection. Unlike most batteries, a BatteryIQ equipped product isn’t an anonymous black box which you have to hope is doing its job.
With the BatteryIQ app you can connect via bluetooth and see exactly what is going on with your battery, providing the ultimate reassurance to safety conscious riders. Plug-in wifi scanners are also available to monitor the battery remotely if you’re not in Bluetooth range of your bike. BatteryIQ are also working with insurers to get batteries pre-approved, so they can be taken into public places, offices or apartments without any hassle – Boost
The bike is fully repairable and maintainable. We use well-established industry standards, and there are no proprietary parts; everything can be repaired or replaced with off-the-shelf parts. Being unable to repair a bike a few years down the line because parts are not available is just not acceptable. Because the e-bike is the same base bike as the mechanical version, even if the Boost system fails years down the line and for some reason Boost no longer exists, you can swap in a standard rear hub and run as a mechanical bike, or fit another conversion system.

Production bikes will come with a custom-designed BMX-style handlebar which uses a standard 31.8mm clamp diameter, not the 25.4mm handlebar and shims used in the photos of the pre-production bike.
A limited batch of bikes will be available to pre-order at a discount, £995 for the electric and £540 for the pedal-only bike at the end of August, with expected delivery in the autumn. Bikes will be available to order from stock at full RRP in early 2026. You can register your interest on the Boost website to be the first to find out when bikes are available to order.
