Three weeks until the UK's Handmade Bicycle Show takes place

70 independent bike makers heading to Bespoked Bristol

Over 70 leading independent bike makers from the UK, Italy, Japan, France, USA and Germany will be heading to Bespoked Bristol, The UK Handmade Bicycle Show, in three weeks time.

Set at Brunel’s Old Station, the show runs from March 23rd to 25th and showcases the talents of independent makers and designers of bicycles and small-scale makers of premium products, components, clothing and bicycle accessories. The show will feature frames made from steel, carbon fibre, titanium, wood and bamboo.

Confirmed exhibitors include the UK’s Rourke, Roberts, Mercian, Mather, Condor and Argos and new young builders Donhou, Feather, Demon and Ted James. Also appearing are Italian maestros Pegoretti, Cinelli, Zullo (Mosquito) and the US’ Crisp, Independent Fabrication, Winter Bicycles, Moots and Waterford.

Organiser Phil Taylor said: "On the strength of last year’s show, we have managed to exceed all expectations and pull in some of the best frame builders from the UK, Italy, France, Germany, USA and Japan.”

A panel of judges (including author and television presenter Rob Penn) will be awarding prizes to their chosen winners, while visitors to the show will also have a say in the ‘Public Vote Prize’. Look Mum No Hands will keep visitors refreshed with a pop-up cafe during the show.

Events at Bespoked Bristol will include Roller Racing by South Coast Sprints, the Bespoked Bristol 2012 Awards Ceremony
(featuring prized for Best of Show, Best Road Bicycle, Best Track Bicycle, Best Utility Bicycle, Best Off Road and Best New Builder). Also featured will be a ‘Becoming a frame builder’ Q and A with Ricky Feather of Feather Cycles and ‘Is there a ‘best’ material for a bike frame’ talk from Keith Noronha of Reynolds.

On Sunday, supported by Rouleur Magazine, talks will include ‘Producing frames in the UK’ from Steven Shand of Shand Cycles, ‘Frame Building in the US’ with Eric Estlund of Winter Bicycles, ‘Building up a frame – What to put on your dream frame?’ and finally the Winner of the Public Vote Award will be named.
