3T creates budget Team alternative

3T has expanded its Strada lineup with the addition of the Pro.

In 2017, the company launched the Strada Team frameset, which represented its first aero road bike with a 1x drivetrain. It was also optimised for wider tyres – a move the brand said represented its vision of the future of road cycling.

After a slow start, the bike went on to be reviewed positively by the industry, leading to the production of the new Pro model this year. “We believe strongly in the Strada that we always wanted to offer in multiple versions,” said 3T head of design Gerard Vroomen. “An important part of that is offering a complete bike with a more affordable price. We realise we’re not Giant, Trek or Specialized; we don’t churn out frames by the millions, we’re only active in the high-end performance segment. With that segment, however, we do want to make them available to as many people as possible.”

The Strada Pro features the same aerodynamics for the frame and fork, the same stiffness and strength, but with a simpler and thus heavier layup. The drivetrain is SRAM Force 1, with a SRAM power meter-ready crank.

The wheels are 3T Discus C35 Pros, along with a San Marco Aspide saddle and 3T Aeronova dropbars.

The bikes are available as of now from 3T retailers.
