Xavier Brice to become CEO of Sustrans

In June, Xavier Brice will succeed Malcolm Shepherd as CEO of Sustrans.

Brice comes to the job from Transport for London. He worked on TfL’s cycling strategy as well as leading TfL’s “Fit for the Future Stations” programme transforming the London Underground.

Sustrans said Brice is a "lifelong cyclist and public-transport aficionado … with a garage full of bikes of various shapes and sizes."

Brice said: "I’ve been enthusiastic about the benefits of cycling for a long time, both professionally and in my home life – where I’m introducing my young daughters to the joys of getting around by bike."

He added: "As a long-term supporter of Sustrans I’m looking forward to leading the organisation and making walking and cycling a more attractive and practical option for communities across the UK.”

Bill Stow, chair of Trustees at Sustrans, said: “Xavier will bring both highly relevant experience and a range of skills to the CEO role.”

Current chief executive, Malcolm Shepherd, is retiring at the end of March following 21 years’ service with the charity, eight of which have been in the top role. The charity’s operations director, Andy Wistow, will be acting as interim CEO until June.
