When is a recumbent a kart?

"Everyone has heard of BMX Biking but this is your chance to be able to say ‘I was there when KMX first started’", writes Barry Smith on his new website aimed at kickstarting what he hopes will be a new sporting category.

His KMX kart has twist grip gears, v-brakes, BMX wheels, plus Ackerman and centre point steering.

"The teenagers that have seen the kids version all ask the same question ‘Do you do it in a bigger size?’," claims Smith.

So far, the number of KMX karts manufactured have been modest but Smith is seeking trade suppliers in order to ramp up production.

He is seeking trade deals on the following:

Alloy 20" rear wheels

5-speed cassettes

Rear mechs

Revo Shift gear change

140mm Crank with BMX-style BB (40 tooth chain ring or less with chain guard)

Pedal

Chains

Alloy V brakes

V brake levers

Quick release seat clamps 55mm

Axle Mounting 12" Wheels with 175mm tyre and tubes
