Trek Bicycle has unveiled a new line of carbon fibre cyclocross bikes: Boone.
"After considerable amount of time in development with the world’s premiere cyclocross racers, Boone is ready to hit the stage as Trek’s first full line of carbon cyclocross bikes," said a statement from the US company.
The bikes were debuted by Trek’s duo of world champion Sven Nys and world cup champion Katie Compton, at the Grand Prix Sven Nys in Baal, Belgium.
The IsoSpeed decoupler, a feature of Trek’s Domane line of endurance road race bikes, has been adopted by Boone’s engineers. By isolating the top tube at the seat tube, IsoSpeed is said to double the vertical compliance of the frame without any negative effect on power transfer.
"IsoSpeed is a proven technology that creates a more seamless ride leaving the rider racing faster, stronger for longer periods of time," said a statement from Trek.
The new internal battery mount and 3S chain keeper borrowed from the Domane line remove the concern of shifting through the elements, said Trek.
Boone comes in three models with cantilever and disc brake options (Boone 5 cantilever and disc, Boone 7 cantilever, Boone 9 cantilever and disc). Boone will also be available as a frameset in both cantilever and disc brake options.
