Timbuk2 back in the UK

Square Peg Outdoor distributes products into the outdoor trade and will now add bike shops to the mix.

Timbuk2 has had fits-and-starts distribution in the UK to date. Square Peg Outdoor signed on as the official UK agent for Timbuk2 in order to bring some stability to UK product availability.

Timbuk2’s 2007 range includes ‘urban adventure’ bags and rucksacks, from the classic messenger bag to men’s and women’s collections including the new ‘singlespeed’ range made from cotton canvas. Timbuk2 products also include laptop and iPod bags.

Timbuk2 was founded in 1989 by a San Francisco bicycle messenger, and is known for its colourful, three-panel messenger bags. These custom bags are still manufactured in Timbuk2’s factory located in the Mission District of San Francisco.

The company was bagged by a new private equity firm in 2005. The equity investment was led by San Francisco private equity fund, VMG Equity Partners, and the Washington, D.C.-based fund, Capital Logic Partners.

Timbuk2 remains independent and privately-held.

Square Peg outdoor distributes ultra-lightweight tents and rucksacks from Lightwave and Crux.
