Tiger Cycles constructing new distribution complex in Lockerbie

Tiger Cycles has just begun the construction of the first phase of their new 25000 sq ft, £1 million warehouse and distribution complex set in 1 ½ acres in Lockerbie, Scotland. The construction has been instigated to celebrate the owners’ 20th anniversary in the cycle trade.

Supplying the industry with low-cost bikes, Tiger has seen a resurgance in business as it has begun to invest mor ein the design and build quality of its bikes.

The product range has changed from supplying what have been the lowest cost bikes in the industry to the new Portuguese produced 2010 range, which are all fully Shimano equipped and all have Taiwanese B/B and head sets and targeted at the low-to-mid market.

Most wheels featured on the Tiger Bikes are now built by Rodi in Portugal who are one of Europe’s largest wheel manufacturers, producing three million wheels a year.

Tiger claims that the new range has resulted in a 90 per cent reduction in the amount of warranty spares being requested giving much more time to devote to servicing their customers better.

The new warehouse is positioned right next to the M74 motorway at junction 17 and will have one of the highest profiles along the 100 mile stretch of motorway from Carlisle to Glasgow. Thus allowing a great boost to brand recognition as the name will be clearly visible to the millions of visitors to Scotland every year.

The first phase of the build should be complete in early May.
