Store Manager – PAU Run & Ride

Due to internal promotion, PAU Run & Ride are looking to recruit an experienced Retail Store Manager to manage the store and the staff team at our flagship store at Unit 314-315 Trentham Shopping Village, Trentham, Stoke on Trent ST4 8AX.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity for a capable business leader to become the face of our growing brand. The successful candidate will supervise the operational and organisational standards of the store and be responsible for demonstrating and embedding our core values to both retail teams and to our clients.

Your duties will include collaborating with our BDM to develop business strategies, managing staff, meeting monthly sales goals and maximising customer satisfaction, as well as monitoring inventory levels, and undertaking associated store administrative tasks. You will embody what PAU stands for in your can-do attitude, motivating management style and demonstrable knowledge of the cycling and running industry.

Cycle Mechanic and Sales (Senior Level or Proficient Level) – Cyclewise Whinlatter Ltd

If you have a passion for bikes and want to work for an exciting and growing company this could be the perfect opportunity for you! Cyclewise is looking for both experienced senior level mechanics and competent cycle mechanics with sound practical skills. Successful candidates will be based at Cyclewise Whinlatter – our trail centre bike hire and retail shop. Our professional fully fitted workshops are accredited Bosch and Shimano Service Centres.

You will need to ensure that all bikes leave the workshop ready for optimum performance and offer great customer service, as well as demonstrating sound technical knowledge. The role plays an essential part in the Cyclewise business, which delivers a diverse range of cycle related services.

This job is for you if you are: passionate about the cycle industry and understand the importance of doing a great job, enjoy fixing bikes and keeping up-to-date with bike technical knowledge, motivated by negotiating and closing a sale, enthusiastic and like working in a team, and comfortable talking to customers and providing advice on cycling products.

Workshop Technician – Alf Jones Cycling

Alf Jones Cycles are an established and flourishing independent cycle retailer based in Gresford near Wrexham, and we are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our busy workshop team. In our workshop, equipped with the latest tools and equipment, you’ll be working with the best bike brands and products in the world. We stock an extensive range of Cannondale, Colnago, Kinesis, Salsa, Whyte, Giant, & Liv bikes in our 6,000 sq ft showroom.

The right candidate will be responsible for: repairs on customer bicycles and the preparation of new boxed bicycles for both customers and shop floor, covering road, mountain, e-bike and leisure categories, and taking service/repair bookings, spares stock management and providing an excellent level of service to our loyal and growing customer base.

Candidates applying will: be a hard-working and dedicated individual who appreciates quality and attention to detail within a workshop environment, have good technical and mechanical background of all aspects and genres within cycling, and have the ability to work in a time efficient manner on all bikes including all varieties with electronic transmissions, hydraulic brakes. Qualified to Cytech level is preferred, although specific training in all areas will be provided to the successful candidate if required.

Cycling Events Manager – South of England – Glorious Gravel

Covering the South of England from the Isle of Wight to the Cotswolds, you would be managing about 20 – 25 events per year with rides every other week from March to October and one event per month through the winter. Reporting to our Head of UK Events, you will be an experienced events manager with a passion for gravel cycling. You will manage the range of events in the South of England in their entirety from route creation to route delivery.

Key tasks include: event planning, route planning, event documentation, event logistics and event setup. You will be liaising with venues, ensuring necessary landowner permissions are identified and in approved, submitting event notifications, forecasting event capacities and costings. Route planning will see you using your own knowledge and reaching out to local experts. Planning routes using mapping tools ensuring they comply with necessary rights of way, ride route recces to ensure trails are suitable, identify hazards and complete route risk assessments. Provide photo and video content from route recces to promote the ride.

The successful candidate will ensure all necessary participant and staff event documentation is produced ahead of each event, create staff plan for each event and coordinate with event team on travel and accommodations, ensure required event equipment is available, arrange event vehicles, ensure all pre event day setup tasks are completed, route signing, events signs, hazard signs, equipment deliveries to site, etc, ensure event village, timing and feed stops are in place, manage event team, manage any event incidents, and review customer feedback, complete event budget report, ensure all invoices from staff and venues are received and forwarded for payment.

Regional Logistics & Rental Bike Manager – Glorious Gravel

Covering the South, Midlands & South Wales, this role is integral to providing brilliant gravel events. During the week you will support our event manager, service rental bikes & source products for the next event. You will be an experienced bike mechanic preferably with event experience and a self-starter that can solve problems. Then on weekends you will be packing vans, working at the ride village and ensuring the team have everything they need for a great event.

From March to October, you will be working on events every other weekend and typically one event per month through the winter. You will work from home, on events across the Midlands, South England & South Wales and at a service course where bikes & equipment will be stored.

Key tasks include: procuring supplies for approx. 23 ride weekends per year (food, drink, medals, ride numbers, spare parts etc), working with event managers, setup ride village the day before the event, work on the event ensuring all feed stops & ride village have everything they need, and keeping a fleet of 15 bikes fully serviced and cleaned each week. You will also be supporting the regional events manager on aspects of event preparation including booking venues, checking routes, communicating with event staff and finding local partners, shipping Glorious Gravel merchandise and managing stock levels, and be head mechanic / guide on occasional international rides.
