Steve Peat Syndicate to back younger riders

Young riders will be offered a leg up into pro downhilling through the new Steve Peat Syndicate, officially launching this weekend at the Fort William World Cup.

The Syndicate plans to provide a pro level programme to up-and-coming riders, designed to help raise their riding standards and give them a taste of the benefits of a pro team set up.

Heavyweight support is behind the Syndicate from the likes of the Santa Cruz V10 bike, SRAM, Rockshox and Avid Components, two sets of SPS custom Royal race kit (including team jerseys), 661 helmet and pads and two weekend training camps with Peat and other top World Cup riders.

Peat, world champ downhiller, has previously helped young riders like World Cup stars Josh Bryceland and Brendan Fairclough. The new Syndicate will further that aim with the full support of a pit space and paddock area at races, complete with Mercedes Sprinter team van, awnings and chill out areas with a team mechanic on hand. Peat will also be on hand to walk the tracks with the team before a race – schedule permitting – offering his advice and experience gained over almost two decades of top level racing.

“I’ve been keen to do this for a few years now,” explained Peat.

“SPS gives riders of all ages the ability to improve their riding with full pro level support and advice as well as have loads of fun along the way.”

“The fun element is a key part of SPS. We ride bikes after all – it’s meant to be fun. But when the goggles and helmet go on it’s race time, it’s serious. We’ll help make riders better and hopefully see them progress as far as they want to go.”
