SRAM to shut Irish plant

SRAM is to close its assembly and distribution centre in Carrick on Suir.

The US company said it will transfer eleven staff members to a new management and back office facility elsewhere in the region.

SRAM has been in South Tipperary for eleven years.

In April 2004, Trek Bicycle Corporation ceased assembly of bicycles in its Carlow, Ireland facility and moved production to its other European plant in Hartmannsdorf, Germany.
