Refurb firms to get free plugs from Bike Week

Team Green Britain Bike Week, to be staged June 18-26, is offering social enterprises which sell reconditioned bikes the opportunity to promote their services on its website.

The social enterprises section on bikeweek.org.uk aims to plug the gap between organisations looking to find homes for unwanted bikes and helping people who want to buy a bike or get it fixed.

Phillip Darnton, executive director of the Bicycle Association, said: “Team Green Britain Bike Week is designed to get more people cycling, more often, so helping social enterprises sell their bikes to those who want to get cycling is the perfect match.

“We encourage all social enterprises to take advantage of free promotion, and help make this year’s event an even bigger success than last year.”

Team Green Britain Bike Week is this year organising ‘Britain’s Biggest Bike Fix’ – an attempt to fix as many bikes as possible in a week. This will be via bike shops as well as refurb specialists.

This is the second year in which Team Green Britain, founded by EDF Energy, has supported Bike Week. This year’s Team Green Britain Bike Week was made possible via a development grant from Bike Hub, the industry levy fund.
