Recycle with Raleigh

Raleigh has teamed up with Re-Cycle, a British charity committed to providing simple and affordable transport to developing countries.

In lesser developed areas, walking can take up-to four hours per day (collecting water, or walking to school). The burden can cripple a family, hampering work and education opportunities. A bicycle cuts travel time to a fraction, even carrying passengers and heavy loads. Bikes give families the extra time to earn, learn and enjoy life.

So far Re-Cycle has sent over 26,000 bikes to Africa, with Raleigh’s involvement we aim to increase this figure significantly.

Derek Balcombe from Re-Cycle said; “we are delighted to be teaming up with such a household name as Raleigh, their contribution of bikes being sent to Africa will literally change lives.”

This new scheme was originally trialed in a selection of Raleigh’s CycleLife stores. Since then, it has been so successful, many lorry loads have been sent already. The scheme is now available to all Cyclelife and Raleigh retailers in time for National Bike Week that starts on 14th June. Participating retailers are being signed up at present and will receive their marketing pack by the end of May in time for the official 1st June launch.

Raleigh’s aim is to encourage more consumers to enjoy the freedom and health benefits of riding their bikes, whilst also supporting a fantastic cause, as an incentive to customers re-cycling their bike for a newer model participating retailers will offer up to £30 off the price of a new bike.
