Pelican Cycle owner rides 192miles for charity

Chesterfield IBD Pelican Cycles took part in a 192mile ride for charity, from Buckingham Palace to Magnolia House in Sheffield – the home of the Sick Childrens Trust.

Completed last month, the total raised so far is over £6,000 and Pelican Cycles was the main sponsor of the event, providing the team with custom jerseys naming 15 local company sponsors, created by Custom Sports Clothing.

Riding in wet conditions, the ride distance was 306km (192miles) with 2,7000 metres of ascent.

Pelican Cycles owner Neil Armitage said: "Some of the riders had only been riding seriously for around three months, specifically for the event so it was a massive achievement for each and every rider to complete the massive distance.

"The ride was the idea of Charlie Ratcliffe, and the chief organiser was Marcus Leverton. All the riders raised sponsorship and as the most experienced rider in the group I also provided route planning and on the day navigation and support. Our local Ford dealership provided free of charge use of a large minibus for the team. Many thanks to them."
