Pearl Izumi to drop running products

Pearl Izumi is to drop the production of running gear to concentrate on cycling products. The move takes effect in January 2017. The company has been producing running apparel for 13 years.

“This was a tough decision," said Mike O’Connor, Pearl Izumi’s President, "but it’s time to recommit to our core.”

Pearl Izumi makes performance cycling, mountain bike and tri apparel, shoes and accessories. The brand was founded in Japan over 60 years ago by cyclist Kinji Shimizu.

Pearl Izumi has been owned by Shimano since 2008.
