Nick Fish to leave Trek

By the end of December, Nick Fish will have relinquished his role as Trek UKs sales and marketing director. He co-founded Trek UK in 1989, after starting in the bike trade with Madison Cycles as a Freewheel shop assistant.

Trek Bicycle Corporation Ltd of the UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of Trek Bicycle Corporation USA and is the exclusive distributor in the UK of Trek, Gary Fisher and Klein bikes as well as Rolf wheels and Nike cycle apparel. The company had a turnover in 2000 of £11m (Sept 99-Sept 00).

Fish isnt being replaced directly. Instead, some of his marketing and PR duties will be taken over by Trek UKs general manager Nigel Roberts. Fish will undertake IBD training and other marketing projects via his new role as an independent consultant. He will be seeking further marketing consultancy contracts outside of the bike trade.

Nick has been the public face of Trek UK for eleven years and leaves the company on a high following a record year for both sales and profits, says Roberts.

Fish was unavailable for comment today but had this to say in a press statement:

"I have enjoyed establishing Trek as the UKs premier independent dealer bike and accessory supplier. I take great satisfaction in the thought that Trek will go from strength to strength through its market leading product range, by offering great service and through the efforts of the committed Trek team. I look forward to maintaining links with the company but also look ahead to new personal opportunities."
