New venue and date for BikeRadar Live revealed

The second ever BikeRadar Live event is set for return with a new venue and later date.

BikeRadar Live 2010 will take place at Brands Hatch, Kent, and will be set over the weekend of July 10th to 11th.

This year’s debut event – which saw 8,500 riders and their families attend – took place at Donington Park at the end of May. Future Publishing, the firm behind the event, has promised more riders, pro, features and races at Brands Hatch.

Brands Hatch’s cycling heritage dates back to 1926 when it was a popular venue for cycling and time trials. The venue has also been listed as a potential road cycling training camp in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics.

Once again BikeRadar Live will include a range of activities for attendees, including family-friendly features. All-weather stunt displays, dirt jump and dual slalom competitions, a cycling film festival, big top entertainment (featuring live music) as well as races and challenges on the road and off-road.

Names from the world of cycling signed up to the event include Graeme Obree, Stephen Roche, World Champion Steve Peat, Brian Lopes, Gee Atherton, Greg Minaar, Sam Reynolds, Danny MacAskill and Formula 1’s Mark Webber.

Mike Groves, Brands Hatch circuit manager said: “We’re delighted to be hosting BikeRadar Live next season as it adds another dimension to our 2010 calendar. Brands Hatch’s natural amphitheatre is an ideal venue for spectators and competitors, and I’m sure we can expect some great racing and a fantastic family atmosphere. With Brands Hatch shortlisted as a possible cycling training camp for the 2012 Olympics, it’s a perfect time for us to raise our profile within the cycling community and we hope that the event attracts a new audience to the circuit.”
