BikeBiz has this morning been informed by Spanish distributor Casa Masferrer that it intends to tackle Monterey and Masi over it’s UK distribution deal, announced yesterday.
Jaume Masferrer told BikeBiz: "Yesterday evening we sent a letter to Monterey by their web side mail and our legal department has arranged a document to be sent by urgent certificated to their office today."
Having already challenged Moore Large over its intentions to carry Masi Bikes in 2005, the distributor is no stranger to pro-actively defending its trademark.
Masferrer added: "In any case, we will take legal actions against the importer and distributors (by the moment we only have news of Monterey) which is breaching our trademark in Europe. Masi can produce and sell in the markets where our company does not have this trademark."
