Le Coq Sportive has, appropriately drawn inspiration from the past for its 2013 Maillot Jaune jersey for the 100th edition of the Tour de France.
Inspired by 1951 Tour jersey it sports a wide, flat-seamed collar and an even brighter yellow than last year, according to Le Coq. It features a translucent Moor’s Head imprinted on the body of the jersey – the symbol representing Corsica, host of the Grand Depart of the 100th Tour de France on June 29th.
Henri Desgrange, Tour de France founder, will be paid tribute to with his initials included on the jersey as well as a reflective inscription, reading (in French) "In 1903 Henri Desgrange created the greatest sporting event of all time".
As the 2013 grand finish will take place at night for the first time, Le Coq Sportif has incorporated an array of reflective detail in the tunic.
Circulation is achieved via mid-length zip and two back ventilation panels, one of whihc includes an ultra-breathable 3D mesh panel at the base of the nape and a further micro-aerated mesh panel across the back. Transparent silicone bands at the waist and sleeves keep the jersey in place and act as wind barriers.
