Its no joke, electric bike sales will grow, says expert

According to Ed Benjamin of the CycleElectric International Consulting Group, electric bikes can dig Taiwanese bike manufacturers out of a hole:

Dual suspension, exotic materials, and electric power appear to be the future for Taiwans many bike companies.

Taiwan once dominated the conventional bicycle. But in recent years, conventional bicycles are increasingly manufactured in Mainland China.

The Taiwanese bicycle industry has responded (many of the bicycles made in China are made in Taiwanese owned and managed plants) by moving up market into sophisticated bicycle technology.

Benjamin will be at CETRAs leccy bike symposium The Pedelec and E-bike 2001 Global Congress, to be held April 1st in Taipei, Taiwan.

Speakers will cover technology, regulatory environment, and market trends.
