Rob ‘Killer’ Hayles has joined British company Onix Bikes as chief development and test rider.
Hayles inked a deal with Onix after a being asked to test the 2012 range of machines by the firm’s founder Craig Middleton.
“I was introduced to Rob through a mutual friend,” explained Middleton. "We had already decided to test all our products with professional riders and when Rob retired from racing I approached him with a view to getting his opinions on our 2012 bikes.”
The result was slightly more than the head of Onix had bargained for!
Hayles said:
“I’ve always loved testing, developing and engineering. I’m excited about the opportunity to help develop and test for such a forward looking British company.”
Middleton said: “It’s been the most exciting and stressful time of my life, often frustrating but I think the fact I have always believed that my vision that customers deserve better has spurred me on and I am ecstatic that Rob has agreed to join us.”
The Onix Black RH Pro and the more sporting Onix Black RH are the Rob Hayles signature models.
“Putting your name to a bike is a big undertaking," said Hayles. "Riding any new bike is always fun but when I tested the 2012 Onix for Craig I was genuinely amazed at how good it was."
The RH models will be available in the late spring.
