Harry Hall opened his eponymous bike shop in 1957. It was famous for its own-brand frames. Hall was also a noted bike mechanic, and provided back-up services to pro races from the 1950s onwards. He was mechanic to Tom Simpson, who died on the 1967 Tour de France.
Harry retired from the day to day running of the shop in 1989. Harry Hall Cycles is run by Harry’s son, Graham.
Following his retirement Harry Hall devoted more time to racing, becoming a noted veteran cyclist, winning numerous medals, including a world championships medal, hence the striped jersey in the pic.
The funeral will be held Wednesday November 7th at St George’s church, New Mills, Stockport.
