Evans ousts CEO Andy King

High street bike shop chain Evans Cycles has fired chief executive Andy King after just 17 months in the role.

King took the position following the departure of Nick Wilkinson two months before his appointment in November of 2016.

The company said: "After leading Evans Cycles for the last 17 months, the decision has been made that Andy King will step down as CEO of the business."

The business, which has been struggling with poor financial performance, saw profits fall a staggering 45 per cent under the management of Wilkinson. King was brought in with the express jobs of turning this situation around, but has failed to do so, having fallen short of the business targets set out in his appointment.

Evans confirmed Alan Fort will take on the position in the interim. Fort has a history of producing positive financial results for previous employers Jessops and furniture company Dreams.
