European Hydration Institute dispel myths about day-to-day hydration

A pan-European study by expert organization, the European Hydration Institute, has found that a quarter of Brits wrongly believe that dehydration only occurs in extreme situations such as high temperatures or long periods without liquid.

The EHI was set up to investigate the effects of hydration on health, wellness and performance and the organisation is also concerned about the level of confusion over how much fluid we should be drinking and even what types of fluids count towards our daily targets. The survey also revealed that more than 50 per cent of Brits don’t know how much they should be drinking on a daily basis.

The expert members of the EHI have highlighted the prominence of nutrition in the media and on the public health agenda, comparing it to the lack of information available about hydration and fluid intake.
