Easyjet pulls bike ban

The ban has caused concern and cancelled bookings amongst the growing number of MTBers that uses Easyjet to reach the warmth of southern France and Spain.

CTC public transport campaigner, Dave Holladay, said: “The ban was due to an over-zealous interpretation of CAA regulations on prohibited substances. Following talks with CTC, Easyjet has sorted out the problem and advised its agents to not refuse any bike.”

Richard Male, from the Easyjet ground handling management team, this morning told CTC: “The website still mentions the restriction as this sort of update needs to follow a legal procedure, but all our staff have been instructed to accept bikes with hydraulic systems.”
