Dahon creates folder-in-a-locker system

Folding bike company Dahon has partnered with locker company Best Lockers to create a a smartphone-operated folding bike rental system. This is similar to the Brompton Dock system found in UK railway stations and other locations.

Dahon’s US office believes the lockers can take the place of bike share systems, or supplement them, and would work well on university campuses, at hotels, on campgrounds and at stations.

The GoPod unlocking stands feature a large screen and Dahon believes this could be used to display advertising, off-setting some of the capital costs of installing the lockers.

A prototype of the Dahon Dock-In Station was unveiled at PressCamp, held last week in Deer Valley, Utah.
