Condor Cycles to supply bikes to Lee Valley VeloPark

Lee Valley VeloPark will open in early 2014, bringing together four disciplines of cycling – track, MTB, BMX and road – with the London 2012 Velodrome at its core.

London brand Condor Cycles has signed a three year contract with Lee Valley Regional Park Authority to supply the new VeloPark. The bicycle frames for use in the velodrome, road track and mountain biking trails are designed in-house by Condor, handmade in Italy, before being turned into a ride-able machine at Condor’s build facility in East London.

Condor’s ability to produce custom sized bicycles as well as tandems will enable the Authority to cater for the smallest and tallest of riders. Condor will work with the Authority to produce custom livery for the bikes that will reflect the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The VeloPark will be further supported by the supply of parts and training by Condor.

“I am delighted that our product was chosen to be used in the world class Lee Valley VeloPark," said Grant Young, MD of Condor Cycles. "I believe that the quality, reliability and support we are able to offer the VeloPark made our bid stand out amongst the rest. It’s an honour to be part of a unique asset for the London 2012 Legacy.

“As a British-based brand with deep seated roots in track and road cycling and our base in London it is a perfect association. We have supported riders from World Track Champion, Hugh Porter in 1960s to the Olympian Ed Clancy. We bring a wealth of knowledge and experience and we can really offer users of the VeloPark the best experience possible of cycling.”

The 60-plus year old brand has seen its bikes ridden to World Championship gold medals, ridden in the Tour de France, as well as attracting figures in the public limelight, from judges to rock stars – as well as the likes of Tom Simpson and Bradley Wiggins.

Dan Buck, Senior Activation Manager for Lee Valley Regional Park Authority added: “We are delighted to have Condor Cycles confirmed as the suppliers of the Lee Valley VeloPark road, track and mountain bikes. To have such a world renowned London based brand supplying the world’s premier cycling venue also based in London, is a perfect match, and will help reinforce the very highest quality standard at the Lee Valley VeloPark. We look forward to working with Grant and the team at Condor over the coming years.”

Lee Valley VeloPark, like the Authority’s other London 2012 venues, will combine community and elite use. It will cater for everyone from children trying mountain biking for the first time, to club cyclists, to Olympic and Paralympic Champions.
