Chris Boardman gets a job in the bike trade

Chris Boardman was a star attraction on the bikeregister.com stand at Bike 2001 and shortly afterwards decided to join the company full-time.

"After being approached by bikeregister.com to promote its services at Bike Show 2001, I knew that I wanted to become involved with them on more than a temporary project basis. I felt that it was a great opportunity for me to give something back to the sport that has given me so much. Bike security is a major concern amongst cyclists, and anything I can do to raise awareness of this problem, and bikeregister.com’s solution, can only benefit bike owners," said Boardman.

Steve Benarr, MD of bikeregister.com, said: "We are delighted that Chris will be joining us. His appointment represents the growing importance of bike security, and the fact that Chris has recognised the bikeregister.com solution is a major endorsement for the product."

Bikeregister.com is an online logbook system linked to a secure database which records identification and ownership details, and is directly accessible by police authorities throughout the UK.

Two options are available – registration and logbook for £5.95, or for ultimate security the inclusion of a police readable electronic tag, which is inserted into the bike frame and cannot be removed. The full tag and registration kit costs £10.
