Brompton Bicycle opens 12th Junction store in Shanghai

Brompton Junction K11 Shanghai store is the 12th flagship to open worldwide, with stores in London, Barcelona, Munich, Kobe, Beijing, Milan, Hamburg, Suzhou, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Chengdu.

The K11 Junction store is the 4th store to open in China following the opening of the Suzhou Junction 6 months ago. Brompton started trading in China in 2011 and the region now makes up 4% of the company’s sales. The store will also house the first factory demonstration area, showcasing some of the processes used in London to build a Brompton bike.

The brand says that the Brompton Junction stores are carefully designed retail spaces, offering a personalised service, and showcasing an extensive range of Brompton bikes, which reflect the many colours and specifications available when designing your own Brompton bike. All Brompton Junctions offer specialist workshop and servicing facilities with a dedicated team of Brompton experts on hand to assist customers. The Junction store in London’s Covent Garden opened in 2013 and has become a meeting place for Bromptoneers the world over, many taking part in the exciting events programme running from the store.

Each Brompton Junction store houses one of the first 400 Brompton’s manufactured in the early 1980’s in London. The new Brompton Junction store in Shanghai will also be the home to an early Brompton with the frame number 397.

Brompton Chief Executive Officer, Will Butler-Adams OBE had this to say: “China has lead the world in cycling and we are proud to be bringing some British bicycle innovation to Shanghai! The Brompton offers a change in lifestyle; one of freedom, friendship and the opportunity to explore your wonderfully historic city. We want our cities to be healthy & happy, and hope that the Brompton will contribute to this in its own way across China.”

There are plans to open more flagship Brompton Junction stores in selected cities across the world.
