British Cycling is following up on its bike workshop pilot from last year with a series of bike maintenance workshops aimed at cyclists to bolster skills and confidence to maintain a bike.
The first workshop takes place in Preston tomorrow (June 3rd), with a further workshops taking place in 17 UK cities, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bath, Ipswich, Glasgow and Newport.
Former GB Cycling Team head mechanic Peter ‘Spike’ Taylor and Pro Tool School will run the workshops, aimed at new cyclists. A programme for more advanced skills will roll out in November.
Taylor said: “These workshops are designed to teach anyone who rides a bike some easy tricks and techniques and give them the confidence to do the job themselves, saving them time and money.
“Even the athletes would admit that popping a puncture can be pretty daunting for anyone starting out, but I urge any cyclist to come and see there’s nothing difficult about basic bike maintenance and repair.”
