Birzman’s Zacoo Tiny Tanker aluminium alloy pump has been handed a Red Dot Design Award 2013.
Reaching a pressure of 220 psi despite its modest sizing (51x6x19cm) it features a ‘Snap-it’ valve, designed for ease of use, is secure under pressure and doesn’t pull out valve cores. The cylinder and piston mechanism increases air flow efficiency for a superior performance, says Birzman.
Also leading the trade in scoring design awards is Ergon, which greedily picked up two Red Dot Awards 2013 – one for its GC1 grip and the RC10 eRocker, the latter being a controller for e-bikes, awarded for innovative and intelligent design.
The GC1 is an ergonomic grip belonging to Ergon’s Performance Comfort grip line, developed for city bikes and touring bikes and particularly bikes equipped with swept back handlebars. The unique shape corrects the kink in the wrist which is present when using these types of handlebars.
The RC10 eRocker control unit was co-developed with electronics brand AEG. Using a rocker system integrated into an ergonomic unit on the handlebars, the RC10 makes using and setting up the motor more user friendly.
1,865 manufacturers, designers and architects from 54 countries – totalling 4,662 submissions – submit their best products and projects in the hope of a coveted Red Dot prize. The coveted prizes began in 1955.
