BEBA teams up with Electric Motor Cycle Association

BEBA and eMCI have joined forces to give the two-wheeled electric vehicle industry a greater lobbying voice.

The British Electric Bicycle Association and the Electric Motor Cycle Industry Association (eMCI) have established a new alliance where they’ll work together on common areas of interest, for mutual benefits.

That greater lobbying voice will campaign for new initiatives, such as a charging point infrastructure that is suitable for two wheeled users as well as four.

The eMCI’s team up with BEBA means its members can potentially tap into a hitherto unused audience – some e-bikes are styled for younger consumers, with the potential for a fourteen year old starting on their first electric bicycle to move on to an electric scooter at sixteen, the duo say.

BEBA Secretary Mark Loveridge said: “We are very pleased to have formed this relationship with EMCIA. We have very similar aspirations and many of the barriers to market are the same, we hope by joining forces we can work as one for the electric powered two wheeler industry.”

Steve Kenward, eMCI CEO, added: “This is an extremely positive development for both our Associations. Whilst the members we represent are in different business sectors, for many of the buying public and policy makers there is little or no differentiation in a number of our products and thus working closely together will ensure that both sectors will prosper and confidence damaging confusions can be eliminated.”
