Art exhibit maps cycling habits of a town

An art exhibit in Germany is doodling itself based on the cycling habits of the town of Wiesbaden’s residents, who have been encouraged to downloaded a free GPS-based app.

Created to emphasise the routes most in need of cycling infrastructure, design agency Scholz & Volkmer has installed an automated drawing machine that plots those paths most regularly used. The process isn’t too dissimilar from the data gathering mission Strava is currently undertaking in order to assist local authorities.

Uniquely, the project is producing some interesting prints that might just come in handy for the art-loving and adventurous cyclist.
