Alasdair Maclennan added to Union Europeene de Cyclisme Management Board

British Cycling has confirmed that its nominee for the Union Europeene de Cyclisme Management Board, Alasdair Maclennan, was successfully elected in Istanbul last week.

The annual congress of European cycling’s governing body also saw Rocco Cattaneo elected as president of the UEC, having taken the role on an interim basis following the election of his predecessor, David Lappartient, as Union Cycliste Internationale president in September last year.

Maclennan, a former president of Scottish Cycling, said: “I’d like to thank my colleagues from around Europe for their support in the year that Glasgow will host the European Games. I look forward to working with them and my fellow board members to make the Games a success and to further strengthen our sport. My congratulations also to Rocco, who I am confident will carry on the good work he has been doing in David’s place.”

Frank Slevin, British Cycling chair, added: “I’m delighted for Alasdair. This result is important to our federation as we seek to reinforce our bonds with our European partners and support them as we work together to shape the future of the sport.”
