First Cytech training facility in Ireland opens alongside The Rediscovery Centre

The Rediscovery Centre, the National Centre for the Circular Economy in Ireland, has announced a partnership with Cytech.

Through this partnership, the Rediscovery Centre will provide Cytech’s training and accreditation scheme to current and aspiring bicycle technicians within the Irish Market.

“The Rediscovery Centre is thrilled to partner with Cytech to provide their internationally recognised training and accreditation scheme for bicycle technicians,” said Sarah Miller, chief executive of the Rediscovery Centre.

“With increased focus on the promotion of active travel, it is vital that we have a skilled workforce to maintain the bicycles on our roads, and make the most of the resources we already have available to us.

“This partnership will enable Rediscovery Centre to continue to exemplify excellence and best practice in bike reconditioning and in the delivery of accredited training for bicycle technicians.”

The Rediscovery Centre is now one of seven Cytech training providers around the world.

They join training companies from Australia, South Africa, Canada, Scotland and England.

Jonathan Harrison, on behalf of the Association of Cycling Traders (ACT), commented: “Opening a dedicated training centre in Ireland is a crucial step for Cytech in the European market and finding the right partner was key.

“We feel that our new partnership with the Rediscovery Centre is the perfect fit and we’re looking forward to working together to continue developing Cytech in Ireland, Europe and internationally. We’re extremely pleased to be able to offer the Irish bike trade Cytech courses in Ireland which we know will be welcome news.

“Rediscovery Centre’s environmental ethos is particularly relevant today in a world where resources are becoming more scarce and Cytech believes its relationship with them will help create “a strong workforce of bicycle technicians with the skills to futureproof the industry.”

Since being developed more than 30 years ago, 25,000 Cytech technical training courses have been delivered to candidates.

Cytech courses encompass the basics of cycle mechanics right through to dealing with the most advanced and high-tech components and parts.

The Rediscovery Centre workshop is due to open for practical training on Thursday, April 25.

The Cytech journey begins with Theory one online. To celebrate the new location and until the end of May, Cytech are offering €50 off the new Ireland Theory one online course which can be completed online and in your own time, to get you started with your journey.

A Theory one distance learning course precedes the Technical one practical course and the two together combine to give the full Cytech Technical one qualification.
