US brand Zipp Speed Weaponry has signed Cape Cycle Systems of Cape Town to handle the brand for South Africa.
CCS will take on marketing, warehousing, dealer sales, customer service and warranty duties for Zipp in the territory, carrying the full product line-up.
SRAM’s performance in South Africa was a key factor behind the move, as director of Zipp sales for Australia, New Zealand and South Africa John Dixon explained: “We’re very excited to bring on Cape Cycle as our dedicated distributor for South Africa.
"Their investment in expanding operations to support the brand in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and throughout the country is very compelling. Also, in the last 18 months SRAM has experienced explosive growth into this market. The synergy between the ZIPP and SRAM brands cannot be underestimated.”
Graham Hall, president of Cape Cycle added: “Cape Cycle is known for distributing the best brands available for the bicycle enthusiast. Cape Cycle Systems has been established for 22 years, distributing high-end cycle component distribution.
