The US National Bicycle Dealers Association has inked a six year deal with Interbike Las Vegas. The NBDA endorses Interbike as its "official preferred national and international trade show for the worldwide bicycle industry." Over in Germany, IFMA and Eurobike are joined by Outdoor-Bike, a September 'ordershow' organised by Munich-based ISPO, the all-powerful outdoor trade show.

US trade show receives IBD backing whilst in Germany the waters are muddied again

Interbike and the National Bicycle Dealers Association have extended their contract through to 2008.

NBDA will continue to exclusively endorse the Interbike trade show and will continue to encourage its members to participate in the Interbike show, and

host the annual NBDA Super Seminars at Interbike.

Reciprocally, Interbike will provide the NBDA with funding each year to support the association¹s programs. Interbike is the largest single

financial contributor to NBDA, and has been for many years.

In the years 2003-2008, Interbike¹s financial support will be a percentage of gross booth sales and attendee registration revenue.

"We’re very glad to formally extend our cooperation with Interbike,"

said NBDA President Kerry Roberts.

"Interbike¹s support of the NBDA has been extremely important to the association over the years, and we think this alliance is great for our industry."

The NBDA recently took over the publishing of US trade magazine Bicycle Retailer and Industry News.

OUTDOOR-BIKE

To be staged 14-16th September at the Munich Order Centre, this new trade show from the ISPO organisers (ISPO is the biggest, bi-annual global trade show for the climbing/trekking/outdoor industry) is being promoted as "Europe’s only Order show for Outdoor, Trekking, Climbing and Bike."

It’s on a fortnight after Eurobike and encroaches on the last day of IFMA.

"Many of the outdoor brands sell to climbers and outdoorers as well as to bikers," explains the Outdoor-Bike brochure in stilted English.

"And most outdoor people have bikes too. The ideal synegy for industry and retail."
