High-end stem and BMX components company Control Tech - key USP: high-end manufacture in the US - has been acquired by Wei Hau of Taiwan.

US manufacturer goes East

Control Tech completed what the company calls a "strategic alliance" to bicycle industry veteran Wei Hau "in order to establish [an] own service centre for international business."

This service centre for international users will "allow further diversification of the activities of Control Tech and provide a streamlined means of access to the product range," said David Lee from Wei Hau.

All Control Tech components are currently designed and manufactured in-house at a factory in Richland, Washington, USA. With the manufacturing moving wholly to Taiwan over time, Control Tech designers will move to Portland, Oregon.

There is currently no UK importer of aftermarket Control Tech kit.
