Which retailer had the BikeBiz Awards on its mind? And which Olympian congratulated Cavendish on his stage win?

Tweets of the week, 9th July

Naturally, this week the Tour de France featured strongly on Twitter this week, with many from the cycle trade mentioning the race – including, funnily enough, prolific Tweeter Lance Armstrong.

At the start of the week Armstrong Tweeted: “Got some good "road rash" on the hip and elbow. Bike mangled, cleat on the shoe completely cracked in two. Hope it’s dry tomorrow."

The reaction to Mark Cavendish’s stage win on Thursday drove former Tour competitor and Olympian Chris Boardman to Tweet: "What a turn around for Mark Cavendish, awesome faith by his team, well rewarded."

Cyclingweekly also Tweeted on the stage win: "Cav crying on the podium there. Gotta love him!"

Cycling TV was even more succinct, but no less enthusiastic, and stated: "Yes!"

But it wasn’t just about the Tour de France. On Tuesday (July 6th) London2012 Tweeted: "Today marks 5 years since we won the bid to host the 2012 Games. Do you remember what you were doing at 12.46pm on 6 July 2005?"

MBUK magazine was focused on the forthcoming weekend, however: "The Athertons will be @BikeRadarLive this weekend. Watch the latest ep of the Atherton Project now! http://ht.ly/28E15."

Cycle retailer 18bikes had the BikeBiz Awards on its mind: "hey, bike industry peeps – nominate us? – http://bit.ly/c8BIHv"

Lobbying for the BikeBiz Awards ends July 14th.

We’ve got an extensive list of all Twitterati from the cycle trade online here.
