Trimetals is set to launch its latest Protectacycle unit at Cycle ’08 this week. The new cycle-storage unit has been designed and manufactured to provide even higher levels of security and theft resistance.
The new Protectacycle has been accredited by the Loss Prevention Board and nominated an Approved Product by the Police’s Secure By Design Initiative after successfully completing a Level one attack test carried out by Loss Prevention Board Inspectors in September 2008.
Mr Calvin Beckford, of Secured by Design, commented "This will be the first secure cycle storage container to have achieved the police SBD mark and so for the first time the police service will be able to point the general public to the Secured by Design website to purchase a product that meets the police preferred specifications."
Featuring Trimetals’ unique patented full access front door, the product comes as a complete package with heavy duty padlocks, ground anchor and security cable included as standard. The Protectacycle can accommodate up to three adult bicycles and is available to see and order on Stand C17 at the Cycle 2008 or on-line at www.protectacycle.co.uk
Bicycle theft is a significant problem in the UK and Government Research has identified that a lack of suitable secure storage is one of the main reasons why more people do not cycle short journeys, rather than taking their car. Last year around 225,000 bicycles were taken from in and around the home, the vast majority from poorly protected sheds and garages.
