Only 500 of the Special Edition Lance Armstrong bikes will be produced. As well as the hang-it-on-the-wall bike, you get a numbered lithographic print, signed by Lance and the artist. For those not flush with a spare $5999, there's one part of the package that is affordable: the rather fetching commemorative jersey.

Trek unveils $5999 Special Edition Madone

Four years ago, after Lance won his first Tour de France, Trek produced a limited-edition version of the OCLV bike he used. Limited to 1999 pieces, each came with a snazzy paint job and certificate of authenticity.

Aficiandos can now add to their collection with the Special Edition Madone. Nice.

Thanks to Mike Jacoubowsky at Chain Reaction Cycles, Redwood City, California, for the supply of the pix and info. A Trek nut, he’s currently taking pre-orders for the bike.
