Trek Bicycle UK has launched www.trekdemosale.co.uk to sell bikes used in demo, media, and show fleets directly to consumers in the UK.
Bikes used at various demo events, trade and consumer show and the like will be available. Customers will be able to purchase bikes by contacting Trek UK and upon completion of the sale, bikes will be sent to the buyers’ local Trek retailer for collection.
Trek said that by involving local Trek retailers in the transaction, it is able to maintain its relationship with its dealer network.
"This site helps us solve a problem within our marketing department and warehouse," said Trek UK general manager Nigel Roberts. "Dealers are offered the first chance to purchase these bikes, but we always have a stockpile left over. This is a solution that allows us to sell bikes that consumers want, while still working closely with our retailers to facilitate the delivery of the bikes."
Each bike will be pictured, with a description of its condition and price. Bikes will carry a one year warranty covering manufacturing defects.
