LeMond and True Temper will work together to introduce new models using OX Platinum and other metal alloys currently being engineered by both company’s R&D groups.
Aaron Mock, LeMond’s product manager, said:
"True Temper has played to their strengths in creating the OX Platinum frame materials. With their research and development efforts they created a best in class product.
A LeMond frame is designed for the rider who understands the underlying philosophy and craftsmanship in our frames. With the latest LeMond Spine design, we have pushed the envelope on what can be accomplished utilizing the properties of different frame materials. OX Platinum will be a nice complement to our steel Spine platform."
Ric Andersen, VP and general manager of True TemperÂ’s Performance Sports Group, said:
"Since its introduction, OX Platinum has become the tubing of choice for discriminating frame builders. We now have premium frame builders throughout North America specify OX Platinum in their spec’ed products."
Burley – and other niche bike builders – produce US-manufactured frames with OX Platinium.
And True Temper has also announced the opening of a new titanium manufacturing facility located in Olive Branch, Mississipi, providing double-butted tubing and components to the bicycle industry.
“Our new titanium capability continues our efforts to grow our leadership position in the bicycle frame materials market," said Anderson.
"This new production capability positions True Temper with a complete offering of the best lightweight materials available. We are now uniquely positioned to serve our customers with a variety of frame materials for high-performance bikes including titanium, carbon fibre, our ultra-lightweight super-strength S3 TM alloy and OX Platinum."
