The US Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Trek, has announced a voluntary recall of certain Chinese-made helmets because they "do not comply with CPSC safety standards for impact resistance."

The CPSC test is not as tough to pass as the Snell helmets standards.

The helmet types are Trek Anthem C Elite and Anthem C Elite WSD models, of which just 4500 have been sold.

The helmets retail for about $129.
