Trail Break Events has reported healthy like-for-like slaes growth for the first month of 2009.
The events specialist told BikeBiz: "Compared to the same month in 2008, Trail Break’s January sales figures have grown by 13.5 per cent. That’s purely down to increased bookings too, as we’ve frozen our prices for 2009."
Trail Break run over 30 events per year covering both off road and road cycling (as well as its popular Southern and Sunday Sportive events), and has a 15 year history in the business to help them gauge industry trends.
"It’s very encouraging. January 2008 was a record month in itself, so to show significant growth now, in the current climate, is excellent news. The start of the year is a key period for us; with a number of new season launches and people making their plans for the year ahead this is often a good barometer for the coming season. While there’s still a lot of uncertainty about what the coming months hold for the UK economy, hopefully this is a positive indicator for the bike industry, one that says there is still plenty of growth in the market."
