OUTDOOR NEWS: October consumer event will incorporate increased industry elements

Trade focus promised for Ski and Snowboard Show 2012

For the first time the Earls Court-based Ski and Snowboard Show is shifting its focus to a consumer and trade joint event.

The first two days of the show – running from Wednesday October 31st to Sunday November 4th 2012 – will feature conferences and forums, focusing on the current issues faced by the snowsports industry from tourism and retail perspectives.

The opening day of the show will focus on the travel side of the industry, centring around the second Responsible Skiiing Conference, held for the first time at the Ski and Snowboard show last year. The second day, Thursday, switches to retail in association with ISPO, the international sports business network.

“As an organisation we have been in extensive consultation over the last few months with our partners,” explained head of Vos Media Snowsports Tim Holmes. “The consensus has been that the addition of a trade-focused programme to the show would be of real benefit to exhibitors and non-exhibitors alike as it would provide a forum to discuss current issues faced by all sectors of the wintersports community.

“As the largest consumer wintersports show we have the perfect environment for different sectors of the industry to get together and we have a duty to support the UK snowsports trade by putting on activity such as this which will be completely free of charge to exhibitors and partners,” Holmes added.
